With the festive season quickly approaching, before popping to the supermarket to a buy any old bottle of plonk consider purchasing one that’s been made closer to home and gift English wine instead.
There are plenty of reasons why gifting British-grown produce is the way to go this year. For starters, it’s one of the fastest growing industries, gaining increasing popularity and recognition.
But here’s just a few more pointers on why it’s a best buy for Christmas 2021 and beyond!
Support local
Our award-winning, small-batch Bacchus and Ortega wines are made here in Herefordshire, and we have carefully nurtured our vineyards since 2016.
By purchasing one, or a few, bottles you are helping to support a family-run, independent business and those that work for and supply us.
Plus, many English winemakers, like ourselves, have our wines stocked with independent stores, so you can also boost the local economy as many of our
stockists are also nearby.
Sustainable gifting
To start with, wine produced in the UK has a significantly lower carbon footprint. It travels fewer miles compared to those shipped in from abroad. We’re also committed to sustainable growing and production methods. These start before your bottle even arrives with you!
Furthermore, wine lasts, so it doesn’t have to be consumed straight away and there’s no ‘best before’ or expiry date. It’s a natural product too so, if there’s a rare occasion when a recipient might prefer something different, you could re-gift it to someone else who may enjoy it or use it in cooking. Plus, the packaging is recyclable too.
Something that’s not mass produced
Our wines are unusual, they’re unique and aren’t mass produced. You won’t be in any danger of finding whoever you give your gift to has already picked up the same bottle elsewhere – unless that’s your intention of course, to buy for someone who loves our wine already! So, selecting one of our wines for someone who is a wine lover shows you’ve given your present choice a great deal of thought.
Made for sharing
Lastly, wine is great for sharing at your winter celebrations, and what more could you want? Now we can get together, wine, though not essential, is all part of that wonderful experience of enjoying each other’s company. You may be giving it as a gift, or just taking a bottle for the table but it’s made to be enjoyed socially, perfect if you’re resuming bigger get-togethers and gatherings after 2020.
English wine is also a great talking point if they’re curious about the origins of the bottle and you may be introducing something new and delightful to family and friends, which is wonderful for both parties! Please remember to drink aware.
If you'd like to purchase our wines online, you can do here.
*Please note, for those within a 15-mile radius of us, the recommended last date for Christmas orders is December 18, 2021.
If any businesses in the area would also be interested in stocking and selling our wines direct to the public, we would love to hear from you too.
