October on the vineyard is an exciting time and it is always mesmerising to watch the change in the foliage as the season progresses.
The leaves on our vines start changing colour before they shed and the vibrant hues are something to behold, reds. The oranges and browns make us feel all cosy and our thoughts turn to hunkering down for the autumn and winter months ahead.
It’s harvest time!
All the hard work of tending vines and battling against various weather conditions has built up to this moment. Although this year we have been able to harvest our Ortega grapes a little earlier than usual, we have recently also harvested our Bacchus grapes and, it is without a doubt, our favourite time of the year.
It’s great witnessing the hustle and bustle of the vineyard and seeing everyone working together as a team to pick every single grape.
Changing foliage
As we mentioned earlier, the leaves on the vines begin changing now to all sorts of beautiful autumnal colours. But it’s not just the changing colours of the leaves that are a wonder to witness, the transformation of trees and hedgerows around us, and the land as a whole is quite something. It’s reassuring to see nature do its thing. The vineyard quietens down now until the spring.
Christmas is on its way
Once the harvest is over, it’s time to start concentrating on one of our biggest retail seasons of the year, Christmas! Everyone always wants to celebrate, and we want to make sure they’re doing so with a glass of our delicious English wine in hand.
If you’d like to celebrate the festivities with our Ortega or Bacchus wines, you can now purchase them online.
