A drink synonymous with Christmas, is of course, mulled wine, however, if you’re not a red wine person, you might find our white wine alternative a bit more palatable.
This alternative will still give you the same wonderful aromas in your home as a traditional mulled wine would, thanks to the spices used.
You will need:
· A medium, dry white wine – we would suggest our Ortega wine, available to purchase here.
· 500ml light cider
· 150ml elderflower cordial
· Zest of two lemons
· Two cinnamon sticks
· One vanilla pod, split
· Four to five tbsp of caster sugar
· Star anise to finish
Method:
The method to this alternative mulled wine is super simple – you just pop all your ingredients into a pan and heat until steaming, but not boiling.
Once ready, ladle into glasses and finish with a whole star anise. You may also wish to cut up an orange segment and pop this in too. Our Ortega wine has refreshing lemon and orange aromas already, so lends itself well to this recipe.
The cinnamon and star anise will still give you that lovely warming feeling of Christmas, but using white wine gives it sweet, cosy cocktail vibes.
Why not impress your friends and family and give this a go if you’re hosting a Christmas party this festive season?
